Gable Log Homes is a family owned and operated business located near Sumter, SC. The concepts for the company were formed in 1979 from a desire to produce the ultimate log building system.

Gable re-designed its log profiles in 1996 based on 15 years of experience in producing, building and observing the performance of different log systems.

All of the new profiles incorporate the time proven design of over lapping wood similar to lap siding. This age old method of joining wood has some very distinct advantages...

1. Rain water is shed away from the exterior log joints

2. External caulking or chinking is not required at the horizontal log joints.  This eliminates the necessity of having to continually repair thousands of linear feet of caulking or chinking over the years in order to maintain a water tight seal.

3. The horizontal log joints remain tight as the walls season and there are no flat spots to collect water.

Gable provides "Deep Swamp" Red Cypress  and Aromatic Red Cedar precut log packages, as well as linear foot packages. Internal butyl gaskets, Log Boss fasteners and arrow splines at butt joints are all incorporated into the precut packages.

Cypress and Red Cedar are two of the most durable wood species available in the US.  Both are naturally insect and rot resistent.

Gable also offers log siding systems that have pre-cut dovetail and butt & pass corners that integrate with the siding to give the appearance of a solid log structure. These siding systems can be applied to new or existing structures.

Gable offers standard floor plans and has CAD design service for custom or modified plans. Customers who already have plans or sketches can mail, fax, or email them to the Gable Mill for a free quotation.
